Its advisory to drink out of a straw immediately after the procedure
DAY 1
Boil hot water, let it cool. Every two hours gently clean the lips with a damp cotton wool pad. Apply the thinnest layer of Healing Balm with a cotton bud or a clean finger. DO NOT APPLY VASELINE OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT!
DAY 2
Repeat the above every 4 hours
DAY 3 – 6
Repeat twice a day for 4 days
Unlike microblading of the brows, it is fine to get the lips wet as they heal, however do not fully immerse the lips into water such as swimming or pick at the lips. Ensure to follow the advice above.
Always keep your lips moisturized after the 6 days healing time to ensure the maximum longevity out of your treatment – a natural bees wax lip chap stick is good when the healing balm has run out.
It is also advisable to protect the lip colour with a SPF Lip balm when exposed to the direct sunlight to prevent the colour from fading.
Healing Diary
IMMEDIATELY AFTER PROCEDURE – Day 1
Immediately after procedure your lips will feel swollen, numb and slightly tingly. It is advised to remain upright and not lie down for at least 4/6 hours; this will reduce swelling.
It is important at this stage to gently Pat the lips every 2 hours and apply the aftercare balm with a cotton bud, NEVER USING A FINGER. Keep lips always moisturised. Drink threw a straw. If the lips are very swollen an antihistamine/ibuprofen tablet could be taken. If your skin is sensitive, it’s likely you may develop a few spots around the mouth during the healing process.
Day 2
Waking up your lips will feel tight, DRY and potentially still swollen. Pat (Not wipe) with wet pads and apply a generous amount of aftercare balm. DO NOT PICK ANYTHING OFF THE LIPS. Continue to drink threw a straw. Apply balm throughout the day to try combat the dryness of the lips. By the end of the day swelling will be more reduced, however the lips are feeling very dry still. Remember to pat them with wet pads and apply aftercare balm before bed.
Day 3
Majority of the swelling will be subsided by the end of today, however dryness remains. It’s possible to start seeing some flaky areas in the lip, remember you are not to pick anything as this will pull pigment out of the skin. Keep up with patting morning and night using aftercare balm throughout the day. It’s possible some areas of the lip to heal quicker than others. Ensure to keep lips Hydrated.
Day 4
Waking up the lips will feel a lot more comfortable today. Possibly 30 – 40% of the dryness will be subsided and swelling gone. This is a critical part of the healing as it’s still very tempting to pull off the dryness, this will make the lips sore again so please resist. Keep up with patting morning and night and applying aftercare balm throughout the day.
Day 5
Most of the dryness has come away naturally. The lips can still feel slightly dry and possibly slightly sensitive. Continue with the aftercare balm to keep the lips hydrated.
Day 6
Lips are now feeling normal… please read healing heads up …
Healing Heads Up.
During the first few days your lip tattoo will get progressively darker in colour as they are healing. You may experience some flaking, this is normal. You may also see uneven shapes, patchy areas or uneven colour during the healing time, this is normal. As the healing process continues the colour will appear dull, lifeless and look like its disappeared, this is normal. At the end of the 30 day cell regeneration process the treated skin tissue will settle back to normal and the colour will appear brighter, softer and consistent. If you have opted for a softer lip colour and feel you need a stronger look, another session may be required. Please contact me (07860823370)
